“An individual has not started living until he can RISE above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity”

Dr. King’s eloquent words are as relevant today as they were over 50 years ago. Dr. King was trying to help us understand that we must not only care about the issues that impact our immediate community, but that we must rise above and understand the world as others experience it. Building empathy and fighting for issues that do not directly impact us is the only way that we can truly improve our world. Until all of us can live with dignity, none of us can.

This breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. King’s journey while exploring how the causes he fought for in the 1950s and 60s parallel the issues we face as a society today. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the UNCF MLK Legacy Scholarship.
This year’s keynote speaker is The Honorable Eric H. Holder Jr., Holder is the former Attorney General of the United States. He was the first African- American to serve in that position. He remained in office until April 27, 2015, becoming the third-longest-serving Attorney General in the nation’s history.

Please join us on January 20th, 2020 for our 30th celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy.
